OpsAct vs PagerDuty SRE Agent
PagerDuty is the best-known paging and on-call platform. Its SRE Agent triages incidents, investigates through connectors and recommends an existing incident workflow for a responder to run. OpsAct does no paging, so the two fit together.
At a glance
| OpsAct | PagerDuty SRE Agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | A control plane hosted in the EU, plus small agents on your sites that only dial out | PagerDuty’s cloud |
| Where your data is processed | EU only. Credentials and raw data stay on your sites | Not stated on the pages we checked |
| What it covers | Hybrid estates: VMware, Windows and Linux servers, databases, network switches, Kubernetes and cloud | Triage and investigation through connectors to tools such as Grafana, New Relic and Datadog, plus Confluence and GitHub |
| Discovery and dependency map | Built in. Finds what you run and maps what depends on what, before any incident | Not stated on the pages we checked |
| Fixes | Runs fixes from reviewed runbooks, shown as flowcharts with every step’s risk labelled | Recommends an existing incident workflow; a responder reviews and runs it; can generate a new runbook |
| Approval before changes | Every change to production waits for a person. More autonomy is earned per runbook | The responder runs the recommended workflow; admins scope AI access by team |
| Learning from past incidents | Remembers past incidents and turns approved fixes into runbooks | Memory of past incidents |
| DORA and NIS2 reports | Drafts DORA and NIS2 incident reports for a person to check and send | Not stated on the pages we checked |
| Pricing | A platform fee by estate size, from €1,500 a month for up to 250 systems, investigations included | SRE Agent pricing not published |
Where OpsAct differs
A map before the incident
OpsAct discovers what you run and how it connects, so investigations follow real dependencies.
Fixes it can run
OpsAct plans from reviewed runbooks, runs each step after approval and checks it, instead of handing over a workflow to run.
EU only
OpsAct processes your data in the EU, and credentials and raw data stay on your sites.
The regulator report
OpsAct drafts DORA and NIS2 reports from the incident record.
Which one fits
Choose PagerDuty when
- You need paging, schedules and escalations, and want AI triage in the same place.
- Your fixes already live as PagerDuty incident workflows.
Choose OpsAct when
- Your estate includes VMware, Windows, databases or switches.
- Data must be processed in the EU.
- You need DORA or NIS2 report drafts.
Using them together
Use both: PagerDuty pages the right person, OpsAct investigates and has the fix ready. PagerDuty can send alerts to OpsAct by webhook.
